WHO WE WORK WITH
Who can make a referral?
We are able to accept referrals from professionals, parents, carers and young people. We will consider the referral if consent has been given from the family or young person. This ensures that the family and the young person want our support and we can work together to make changes.
We are not a long term solution. We aim to be able to support a family or young person to achieve their goal in around 12 weeks. We understand that we have to be flexible with this time limit, but having a time scale supports us to remain focused on supporting you you to achieve your outcome.
Helping Our Pupils Emotions
HOPE is a project that offers emotional wellbeing support to children and families in our Esteem academies.
The Hope Project has been developed over the past five years and has positive outcomes for children that have an emotional need for support. The Hope project trains school staff to understand the mental health of young people and enhance their supportive, listening skills. This provision delivered in school complements a whole school approach to positive health and psychological wellbeing. The project offers a safe space in an environment the child feels comfortable. This has additional benefits such as the adults’ familiarity with the child and family which aids the trusting relationship.
Members of the FASST Team have been trained by Rachel Raynor at The Burden Basket to deliver this project to young people over a number of weeks. Wherever possible the sessions will be held in school during the normal school day.
As HOPE practitioners, we receive monthly supervision from either Rachel or one of her team, to ensure that we are supported to continue to support children and families effectively
Youth Connect 5
The Youth Connect 5 programme is a well established course for parents, carers and family members across the north west of the country. After a lot of research we decided to train two of our team to be able to deliver this course as we felt that it was different to a lot of the other courses for parents and carers we had looked into.
Youth Connect 5 promotes the emotional wellbeing of young people by recognising the vital role families have in supporting and guiding them.
This programme is delivered over 5 weeks in 2 hour sessions to small groups of parents, carers and family members. Its aim is to provide the understanding, skills and tools to help the adults to build their child’s emotional wellbeing and resilience.
We are able to travel to any of our schools to deliver this course, but we ask that families commit to attending all 5 of the sessions. We can be flexible in the day and time - we understand the busy lives of parents.
Esteem Multi Academy Trust is made up of 11 academies across Derbyshire, Derby City and Staffordshire.
The 3 Derbyshire Alternative Provision academies meet the needs of young people who are identified as being at risk of exclusion, or who have already been permanently excluded from mainstream education.
The 7 Specialist SEND academies across Derbyshire, Derby City and Staffordshire work with young people who all have an EHCP and require specialist education. We have specialist provision from Early Years to Post16.
Elmsleigh Infant and Nursery School has been the most recent to join the Trust. They welcome children to their mainstream school from within their Swadlincote catchment and also provide a 16 place Enhanced Resource for children with an EHCP with an ASD diagnosis.
